Crash Pad maintenance pro tips!

We've had a great question from our customer about how to keep the loved Organic crash pad in great shape for as long as possible. As heavy pad users ourselves, here are our top 3 tips for a long lasting colourful pad:
- Keep the pad dry: The lasting Cordura fabric on Organics is especially lasting and resists some water, but of course there are seams and the pad will get wet if exposed to a lot of water. If this happens, make sure to leave the pad flat and open in a ventilated and warm space to get the moisture out asap.
- Clean the pad after bouldering sessions: If the pad is dry, it is a good idea to brush off all sand etc. soil off from all the pad surfaces right after climbing. This way the soil and sand does not go deep in the fabrics. However if the pad is moist, it is usually smart to let it dry first and then clean the sand etc. off once the pad is dry. This way you get the pad clean the easiest way. On the other hand, if you need to put the pad in a car after a session and it is moist and muddy, wiping the most of the dirt off with a damp cloth would be my go-to choice.
- Do not store climbing gear, etc. between the pad. Organic pads do not suffer from storage folded as it is how they have been designed to work (even the blubber has lasted years and years of storage folded next to our Big Pad). The best storage for a pad is a dry and ventilated place, where the pad is also not exposed to direct sunlight, so that the colours stay at their best for a long time.
It is important to care for your gear, because long lasting equipment is also ecological. This is one of the great reasons we love these products so much. They are built to last. Also, if you happen to loose a metal buckle or break a plastic one (it is difficult but of course possible) Forêt33 has spare buckles to get your beloved pad or bag back to shape.
Happy climbing with your Organic Climbing gear!
